In one of my most recent commentaries, which included the latest episode of Symptoms, I wrote of the progress that had been made at the recent G-20 summit toward the creation of the new world order the Antichrist will someday utilize to wield power "over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations." (Revelation 13:7)
The above being true, it is reasonable for those of us who take Bible prophecy at its word - the Word of Almighty God even - to conclude that, sooner or later, the issue of Middle East peace was going to begin being a topic on the lips of all the world's leaders once again. Why? Because the prophesied Antichrist to come, as seen in Daniel 9:27, is going to rise to global prominence by confirming (or making strong) a covenant of peace seven years in length "with many", Israel being a party involved in same.
The wait is over
As if answering the call to be obedient to God's prophetic plan, the news has been abuzz in recent days with stories I believe are a clear indication that the world's leaders are preparing for yet another round of attempts to resolve the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and, in doing so, preparing to apply all their pressure to Israel to make peace a reality while looking the other way where the manifest criminal deeds of their nemeses in the Middle East are concerned.
The revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy, the European Union, is turning up the heat on Israel, as seen in the following excerpt of an Israel National News article:
Less than a week into the new government’s term, Germany and the European Union are ratcheting up diplomatic pressure on Israel to agree to a “two state” final-status solution in the Land of Israel west of the Jordan. [More...]
Not only do we see that taking place, but, much as I anticipated would be the case with an ultraliberal like Barack Obama in the White House and the Democratic Party in control of the House of Representatives and Senate, the United States is preparing a diplomatic blitz against Israel as well, as seen in the following excerpt from a Haaretz article (emphasis added mine):
In an unprecedented move, the Obama administration is readying for a possible confrontation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by briefing Democratic congressmen on the peace process and the positions of the new government in Israel regarding a two-state solution.
The Obama administration is expecting a clash with Netanyahu over his refusal to support the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
In recent weeks, American officials have briefed senior Democratic congressmen and prepared the ground for the possibility of disagreements with Israel over the peace process, according to information recently received. The administration's efforts are focused on President Barack Obama's Democratic Party, which now holds a majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. [More...]
Talk about trouble in the making for the United States of America! All the stimulus bills in the world won't be enough to save the United States of America if it continues down this pathway that will lead to the advent of Antichrist. I said it when George W. Bush was in office pursuing a two-state solution alongside the international Quartet and I'm saying it now: This is the equivalent of the most blessed nation in the history of the world - a nation founded on biblical principles no less - slapping the Most High in the face. God help us!
Luke 12:48 makes it clear that no one in the world - absolutely no one - has more to fear when it comes to landing on the curse side of God's promise of blessing and curse described in Genesis 12:3 than the United States. It is written that "unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required." God holds the United States of America to a higher standard when it comes to being obedient to His will and rightly so. We are failing to meet that standard - and miserably! Perhaps that's why we've been blessed to have Barack Obama as our president - a man who I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt but am convinced is exactly the kind of man I feared he was going to be proven to be: the kind who'd attend a church where the United States of America is cursed from the pulpit, the kind of man who would bow before a Muslim leader, the kind of man who'd befriend a domestic terrorist, the kind who would ensure that 100 tickets were unfairly set aside - reserved for gay and lesbian families - to attend the White House Easter egg hunt, but I digress. Suffice to say that God can't be happy with the United States of America right now.
Add to all the above (and far more) Team Obama becoming diplomatically hostile with Israel and you have a recipe for disaster. Were it not for the Church being present here, in light of how abundantly God has blessed America in contrast to what it has returned to Him in terms of honoring His Word, I have little doubt this nation would be in tatters at this point.
Where is all of this leading?
Eventually, as a result of the collective and seemingly relentless efforts of mankind to bring peace to the Middle East at the expense of Israel's safety, God is going to permit the advent of the Antichrist to occur, setting in motion the seven-year Tribulation Period that will lead to the Second Coming of Christ and the battle of Armageddon.
The revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy as well as Team Obama are preparing a diplomatic march on Jerusalem, forcing God's hand of judgment in essence. As frightening as that is to consider for the lost, what does that tell those of us watching for the return of Jesus Christ, our Lord? The King is coming!
